Do You Set Plans But Then Change Your Mind?

Do you set a goal, create a plan, and then stay focused and go for it? Or, do you get halfway there and then decide to take a left turn, and end up following the wrong path before you choose a completely different plan?
There’s nothing wrong with being flexible and adaptable, but when you stray off in the wrong direction entirely it’s going to slow you down. If you continually change your mind, it’s going to prove to be incredibly difficult to move forward. So, let me ask you – how often do you achieve your goals?
How to Set Goals
What do you really want to achieve?
Once you decide, you have to commit. From there you should put your goals in writing. Your goal should be specific, it needs to be measurable and attainable, relevant, and timely. Your goals should motivate you, and the process of writing them out makes them feel more real.
Once you have your goal in writing, consider the steps you will take to achieve it.
The process of goal setting is a powerful one, and it’s an essential aspect of motivating yourself to shape the future that you have long imagined for yourself. It’s something that helps you direct your life and assists you in deciding where you want to head in life.
When you know exactly what you want to achieve, then you know precisely where to concentrate your energies. This focus also makes it easier for you to notice the distractions that tend to lead you astray.
Why Goal Setting is Important
Successful people set goals, from top-level athletes to billionaire business people. The benefit of goal setting is that it provides you with both a long-term vision and short-term motivation. It helps you focus your knowledge, and gain more of it, and it also helps with time and resource management. Goal setting empowers you to make the most of your time, and ultimately your life.
When you set goals that are sharp and clearly defined, then you can take pride when you achieve those goals, and you can see the progress as it happens. Once you achieve one goal, your self-confidence will increase and as you begin to appreciate what you are capable of, you will be more likely to continue accomplishing goals and creating bigger ones.
Personal Goals
Don’t forget to consider goals in your finances, family life, career, education, and even your physical self. Where do you want to go in your career? How do you envision your family life? What do you want to earn and by what stage, and how does that relate to your career? Do you want to pursue some kind of further education?
Do you need to change your mindset? In what ways would you like to enjoy life? Are there creative goals you’d like to achieve? What about your community or the world, do you want to save it or at least make a difference? Finally, your physical self – do you have athletic and fitness goals you’d like to achieve and if so how will you do it?
Your goals will be on a number of different levels.
The first step is to create a big picture of what you want to see your life become in the next decade or so. You have to first identify the large-scale goals you’d like to achieve. Then, you break them into smaller goals, little milestones that allow you to sustain motivation and continue on to your lifetime goals.
Once you have your plan you can begin to work towards those goals. You don’t just say I want to be a multi-millionaire in ten years. You have to put plans in place detailing exactly how you plan to achieve that ultimate goal. Step by step, one goal at a time. Otherwise, you will find yourself straying from the path.
