Remove The Negative People in Your Life

I don’t believe that there is anything worse for your success and happiness than being surrounded by negativity. That includes negative people.

How can negative people impact your personal success and happiness?

Well, they totally ignore your boundaries,  they’re always right or at least they think they are, they completely lack accountability, they always frame themselves as the victim, they take without giving, and they try to control you. Do you happen to know anybody like that in your life?

It’s not easy to remove negative people – even if they are damaging to us, we do grow fond of people. So, how can you break free?

You’re Worth It

You are, but you have to decide that you are and believe it.  If you’re tired of people because they drag you down, then you’re already at the end of your tether. Now you simply need to decide whether you believe your dreams and goals are worth achieving. Your dreams, your goals, and you deserve a commitment. They deserve your commitment to your happiness, and that means deciding that you’re worth walking away from negative people.

Identifying Toxicity

Look at how people impact your other relationships and how they steal your time and invade your space. If someone makes you feel unproductive or uncomfortable, then they are quite  literally waving a red flag in your face. These people who paint themselves as victims drain you of your energy and will always redirect the focus to their problems and their drama.

There’s a massive difference between friends who share their troubles, challenges and struggles, and someone who is always complaining about their problems without being prepared to hear yours.

Establish Boundaries

Your boundaries are how you keep your happiness, sanity, and wellness. If people in your life don’t respect your boundaries, then they are actively disrespecting you. So, sit down and write out a list of your boundaries and tell people when they cross them. You can stand strong while at the same time still remaining respectful.

By establishing your boundaries and sticking to them, you will easily weed out the people who don’t respect you. They’ll soon disappear without too much of a fight.

Guilt-Free Daily Reminders

You don’t need to feel guilty about cutting out negative people from your life. You only get one chance to live it, so why should you feel bad about trying to live your best life? This is something you will need to remind yourself of daily. You aren’t abandoning anyone here – you’re just letting them walk their path just as you are honoring your own journey.

Introduce the Positive

Now you get to introduce positive people into your life.

You want people who challenge you, who support your endeavors and encourage you to be better. You are a reflection of the company that you keep, and if there are people you spend time with who don’t reflect your goals or desires, why do you think that is? Spend less time with anyone who negatively influences you and spend more time with those positive influences.

Once you purge your life of the negative people in your life, you will realize that you are lighter, more positive, and feel more capable of achieving happiness and success. Negative people will hold influence over you. It doesn’t matter how hard you try, they will sway you. You are not obligated to keep people like this around: it doesn’t matter what your relationship is.

We grow, and we change, and sometimes that means the end of relationships.
